Hooked on Fishing: Carp Fishing Rods

Fishing for carp is a very enjoyable activity as carp are really clever and don’t take bait too easily. Even so, with some trickery, you can lure carp and dupe them into being your latest catch. What follows are just a few pointers to serve you with your carp fishing:-

  • Take fishmeal boilies in the summer and autumn seasons, and experiment with 50/50 mixtures or birdfood bait in the finer weather (winter and spring)
  • For particile baits, add an abundance of salt, particularly the cooked varieties such as tares, hemp, maize, beans, maple peas and partiblend seeds. Carp savour salty food. As a rough guide, mix one tablespoon of salt to 5 litres dry particles. These are also good cheap baits to use!
  • Experiment by mixing chillies to some particle baits. Carp appear to enjoy that hot sensation from those chillies. As a rough guide, mix two tablespoons to 5 litres of particles.
  • In the winter when the water is cold, experiment with casting your fishing rigs a little more frequently, and target different areas so you can set a hook bait near to the carp. Cold water slows down the movements of carp therefore there’s a lesser opportunity for the carp to swim to your hook. In the summer time, you can position traps in likely patrolling areas and wait for the carp to find the bait.
  • Experiment with various particles or sizes of pellets in the spod mix. This helps confuse the carp, and also gives you the selection to try contrasting sizes of bait.
  • Include high sources of vitamin C to the bait. Stir your method with orange juice and not water from the lake. Also try soaking fresh boilies in orange juice in order to give that well-defined flavour.
  • Lastly, make sure you have the right fishing gear with you. Research what you should bring online. You can find all kinds of things online, such as carp fishing rods – and be sure to enjoy yourself!
