The Goods regarding Sydney Botox

Sydney Botulinum treatment (BoTox for short) is now trendy in Sydney society and has become a beauty routine essential for individuals in the city.

Yet I am frequently amazed by the various stories that have originated about this simple procedure.

Below are some of the more myths that we hear all the time at Star Cosmetic Medicine, where I practise as a physician.

Urban Legend # 1: The muscles in my forehead may freeze!

The human face has approximately sixty muscles. These ordinarily perform harmoniously, but from continual movement fine lines can start to appear. When an excess of BoTox is used the muscles which are responsible for the expression of emotions can sometimes become slightly less expressive. The dosage injected by almost all physicians are designed to make you look well rested, yet your face will remain every bit as expressive.

By injecting the proper dosage of the toxin in just the right tissues facial expression is retained whilst the wrinkles are softened.

Urban Legend # 2: BoTox is poisonous!
This to some extent is correct. Botulinum Toxin Type A is the proper medical terminology. An overdose may loosen muscles that you do not want loosened and may even cause sickness.

Chemists have a famous expression ‘everything is a poison – it all depends on the dose’. All medicines might make anyone unwell in big enough quantities. If you drink too much water it can be fatal.

Urban Legend # 3: BoTox hurts!
In our practice Star Cosmetic Medicine the physician utilises a needle finer than human hair. Several people have compared the treatments to a mosquito bite. It is certainly less traumatic than something like a vaccination.

Urban Legend # 4: My face will not be as sensitive!
Not true. Botulinum medicine works on the neuromuscular junction, and not on sensate nerves. Just the ability to relax your muscles is affected by BoTox.

Urban Legend # 5. You can’t stop having BoTox otherwise the wrinkles become even worse!
Also wrong.

The first BoTox treatment will last approximately 3 months. Later treatments do last longer. The wrinkles will gradually reappear as the muscle returns to normal. Even So they definitely will not be any more pronounced than when you started your BoTox therapy.

Even if you do not have BoTox again – those lines should be less pronounced than if you had not undergone the procedure. Due to the fact that your facial muscles and skin have had a ‘wrinkle holiday’ for a few months.
